The pressure drag reduction effect of tandem swimming by Caranx sexfasciatus and Rhincodon typus.
2021.05.31
Summary
Swimming in front of a large fish (whale shark) by a small fish (bigeye trevally) reduces drag force by up to 50% compared to a small fish swimming alone. It is suggested that the bigeye trevally swims in front of the whale shark to reduce the migration cost.
